Symptoms Of Shellfish Allergy

 
SHELLFISH ALLERGY
Symptoms usually develop allergies to shellfish within minutes of ingestion of seafood, and include:

Hives, itching or eczema

The lips, face, tongue and throat or other parts of the body

Dyspnea, nasal congestion or difficulty breathing;

Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting

Dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting

Tingling in the mouth

A serious allergic reaction to shellfish called anaphylaxis can be fatal if it interferes with breathing. Anaphylaxis is a medical emergency that requires treatment with epinephrine (adrenaline) injection and a trip to the emergency room. Signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis include:

A swollen throat or a lump in the throat (airway), it is difficult for you to breathe

Collision with a sharp drop in blood pressure

Rapid pulse

Dizziness, lightheadedness or loss of consciousness

Although they have similar symptoms, shellfish allergy is different from the harmful effects of toxins or bacteria in food. Unlike allergies, food poisoning is not directly related to the immune system and only occurs when you eat food that is contaminated. An allergic reaction to shellfish usually occurs every type of fish to eat, which causes a reaction.

When to seek medical advice

Contact your doctor or allergy specialist if you have a food allergy symptoms shortly after eating. Consult a doctor if you develop signs or symptoms of anaphylaxis.
